Nowadays Theatre is a not-for-profit company in Toronto, founded by Mohammad Yaghoubi and Aida Keykhaii. It is a multi –award winning and highly acclaimed theatre group with over a dacade background in it’s home country, Iran.
Mohammad Yaghoubi is a multi award-winning playwright, director, screenwriter and theatre instructor, currently living in Toronto as a permanent resident of Canada.
Aida Keykhaii is an award-winning actress, director, producer and theatre teacher, M.A in directing from University of Tehran who is also living in Toronto as a permanent resident.
Nowadays Theatre has been introducing socially relevant works that provoke public discourse and promote community engagement. Our works illuminate diverse perspectives and social issues, inspiring independent critical thought and communion.
We strongly believe that people engage more fully in the world through the experience of live theatre. Since 2003, NOWADAYS Theatre has been introducing plays that tackle difficult issues and generate powerful audience responses. Productions include Drought & Lies, Writing in the Dark, Moon on the Water, The One Only Possible Way, Geraniums, Red and the Rest, Goodbye, Winter 88, Davilore, Machismo (Based on the novel the Honarary Council by Graham Greene), Proof (David Auburn), The Heart of a Dog(Based on the novel by Michael Bulgakov), and The Pillowman (Martin McDonagh).
